Of Mice and Men Script

Introduction

* Hello everyone. Hope everyone is having a good day today! How are we all doing?

* Okay good, good.

* Okay, so I decided to do my second presentation, (during the Great Depression) on the movie that scarred almost every high school sophomore in this room.

* Or at least, Of Mice and Men was a required reading in Indiana, I don’t know whether or not it was here.

* I was personally destroyed by this story.

* Okay then, how many of you have either read the book or seen this movie?

* That’s what I expected.

* Because I expected everyone to be vaguely familiar with this story, I decided to skip the trailer and to go with a short synopsis of the film, to jog everyone’s memory back.

Synopsis

* Moving on to the synopsis of the Film.

* Need I say it? Yes? Okay, for those of you who HAVEN’T seen this, Spoiler Alert! For discussion’s sake.

* Of Mice and Men was originally a short novel written by John Steinbeck (who also wrote the book “The Pearl” Which also ruined my life, but as a middle schooler).

* The movie for the most part, did a great job at following the events in the book.

* So, this takes place during the great depression, and it follows two characters, Lenny Small, and George Milton, who are traveling together from town to town looking for a job.

* This took place in California.

* Slowly throughout the introduction of the film, they reveal why exactly they had to flee their last job.

* Lenny Small, the guy on the left, had a disorder.

* They call it “Limited mental Abilities”, but he’s basically like a giant toddler that never grew up.

* Lenny got them into trouble by freaking a girl out, and she ran screaming, so both George and Lenny had to leave.

Here is a scene from the movie that PERFECTLY illustrates the two main characters’ personalities: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DCM-sEpyh1Q

* I look at that, and that...
