You're Not You

You're not you is a movie about a woman named Kate who played the piano and seemed perfect in every way possible, until one day she was diagnosed with ALS. ALS completely changed Kate's life. She hired a young girl to take care of her, whom she became very close to. Kate was struggling with this disorder and she just wanted someone to be there for her. Her husband ended up cheating on her and all she wanted was to die but the girl she had hired kept her going. This movie was very sad in my opinion. It brought a lot of mixed emotions and thoughts about life. It made me see how hard it is for a person to live with an illness. Any illness can change a person's life completely and put pressure on the person and their families because of the struggle it is. Watching this is movie helped see that us as PTAs should always treat our patients with care and give them all of our attention needed. We won't really don’t know how our patients actually feel deep down at that moment and that is why we should always make sure that we make our patients feel important and comfortable. I learned that not just because a patient isn't fully there, it gives us the right to neglect them. As a PTA, we should also see our patients as a friend and more than just a sick person. We also need to provide the correct techniques and exercises.
