Flight in Key Senate Races

After Antonin Scalia’s death President Obama’s choice was to nominate someone
because of Scalia’s death. Scalia was an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of
the United States from 1986. He was a reliable vote against abortion rights, gay
marriages, affirmative action, and other political charged questions before the court. A
few hours after his death, the Republican Senators in battleground states from
Pennsylvania to Arizona were all opposing to any nominee president Obama picks,
stating that the next president should make the pick instead of president Obama. But
the Democrats were against this; they state that it doesn’t matter who makes the pick
because it is very important to the other Supreme Court Justices. The Republicans also
think that the American people should have a voice in the next selection of their next
Supreme Court justice.
I think that the president has the right to nominate anyone who he thinks should take the
place of Scalia because it is very important to have the nine Supreme Court Justices no
matter what. However the political debate is erupting the prospective nominees to fill
the vacancy is very unseeingly. Obama also mentioned that there are a lot of
republican senators who are going to be under a lot of pressure from various special
interests and various constituencies and many of theirvoters to not let any nominee go
through, no matter who he nominates. I also think that whoever Obama choose is
appointed to determine the outcome of the whole situation.
