Smith &Falmouth is a technological company that sells their product through mail-order and has developed recently an e-tailing division. The issues lie where departments are becoming more callous because of the shift in their level in the organizational hierarchy. To identify the issues within the organization a chief operations officer has been introduced to the organization, choose an accomplice to cooperate with, to gain the confidence of essential decision makers, and centralize the online enterprise. The chief operating officer is faced with difficulty in breaking through the different social sub-structure cliques. The organizational structure is recognized as bureaucratic; but, recommendation was made to change the organizational structure from bureaucratic to a matrix structure by the chief operating officer. There has been the identification of essential components of structure of the organization and the power sources. The description of the necessary structural changes and the effective power sources that is worth aspiring will be acquired by the chief operating officer.

This is so severe that the company had to seek outside talent by hiring a chief operating officer whose job is to open interaction involving different departments and recognize the challenging goals of the chief executive officer. It is important to keep up dated with new technology and also with competitors and for this to take place there have to be changed, which can be tedious nevertheless it is vital keep up.
