World of Ideas Short Essay 1

10/7/14

From The Hero’s Journey by Jason Campbell, a hero is someone who gives his or her life for something that is bigger than oneself or other than oneself. A hero can start as early as a child in the womb of a mother. It is being created into life and fighting to become a person. It will come to life and meet people who have been in this world for a while that will teach it the ways of life. Later the hero will overcome obstacles and change the way he lives forever. This is the moment that changes the person’s perceptions, beliefs, values and complete ideals, as the person is faced with their biggest change in life thus far. This is the moment that changes the hero from who he was to who he is forever. The last turning point for the hero is definitely the Resurrection. This is the biggest moment of the hero’s life, he finally resolves the conflict that he was confronting and makes the change with one more sacrifice to himself. Everything is resolved now and the hero heads back to his ordinary life completely changed from the person he started the journey as. I think everyone can relate to this because we are constantly evolving and changing and are never the same person we once were....
