1.1 Background
Iris Running Crane’s dilemma is hard one, one I very much wish I had myself. After reviewing her credentials, personal views on each company and her long term goals I believe Iris Running
Crane should accept the offer from Lepus Capital. Not only is Lepus offering a considerable starting salary, which she can use to pay off her student loans, it is also giving her the ability to create jobs in the near future by becoming a principle and head of Lepus’ cleantech business unit.
Iris was looking for a company that was able to provide her with the ability to learn, to create jobs, to be well compensated, to not have to raise capital within her first few years and to work within an organization with a lively corporate culture. While all of these are all positive attributes of company it is rare to find a company that can put on all of those hats.
Sunstorm Investment Group would have given her the ability to learn, to be well compensated and not have to raise capital within her first year, but being a small fish in a large pond is not advantageous for career advancement. This lack of career advancement would make it increasingly difficult for her to reach a position where she could create jobs on reservations.
While Red Horse is a considerably better option than Sunstorm it still does not give Iris that ability to create jobs. In addition, Red Horse is a traditional company and does not like to work outside of the box,...
