Abstract

This document is being composed to not only enlighten the specific individuals who have a desire to read more about the life altering disease that is known as Spinocerebellar Ataxia type 8, while at the same time making the people aware who still doubt the effects of this disease and its outcomes, but to also educate them on the many devastating and harmful effects that this disease has on the person who is inflicted by it, as well as everyone around them. Along the way we will be discussing the definitions of both Ataxia and Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 8, the different types of Ataxias along with their different classifications as it associates with cerebellum ataxias, we will also be exploring the most common symptoms, how it is acquired and diagnosed, how common Spinocerebellar Ataxias are. Along, with speaking about the cure and the treatments that are available. As we go through these steps, we will also be receiving the views of a 46 year old male, that we will call Bill throughout this paper, who has been contending with the effects of this disease on a daily basis for the past 15 years, and how it has altered his life in the most horrific ways.
