There are many drugs in our world today that help with a variety of pain, sickness, and everyday irritations. Some of them work well and others not so much. Some have severe side affects that others do not. Why do we have legal drugs that cause addictiveness and horrible side effects, but have an illegal drug that can be used to help patients without the harsh aftershocks? Marijuana should be legalized like OxyContin because it’s natural, has medicinal purposes, and is not addictive.

Marijuana is a natural plant that is grown in soil, also known as Cannabis. There is nothing added to marijuana to make it effective in the medicinal world. It matures the same as any other plant would with light, warmth, and water, making it 100% a natural substance. OxyContin on the other hand is man-made, not natural.

OxyContin is a man-made drug that was founded and approved of in 1996. It is a narcotic that provides pain relief to those that are in severe pain. Although some of the ingredients to make this drug are natural substances they were not brought together naturally. This makes OxyContin have side effects that may outweigh the benefits.

OxyContin has many side effects that a person can go through. Some non-serious disadvantages are: nausea, dizziness, constipation, vomiting, gastrointestinal problems (also know as stomach and intestines), fatigue, itching, sweating, Falsified 2 headache, dry mouth, and asthenia (weakness). Right away you can see that this is a very long list of side effects that one would not want to go through just for a few hours of pain relief. Unfortunately, these...
