The Patterson operation had been a successful operation. Due to this operation, productivity increased to such as extent that employees were receiving bonuses, which very seldom been in the case in the old location. The workers also become better and qualified people began to bid actively for the job. During the first year of the operation, there was 32.8 percent increase in productivity over that of Section 10. Besides that, Patterson has higher productivity and more bonuses compared to the main plant. Other than that, very low grievance rate, the high level of worker morale and higher productivity compared to the main plant. These successes occurred because of several factors. First of all, the repetition of working on only one line enabled workers to develop speed, which facilitated their bonuses. Besides that, workers also able influence their decision concerning their work hours and the times of their rest breaks. Plus in Patterson, it is not very strict in discipline. But if a violation of certain company occurred, a liberal attitude will taken by management. The workers have started to view Patterson as their own company due to this operation.
