1. Evaluate how Facebook may adapt the communication process in their international market?
The communications process is made up of nine elements: sender, receiver, message, media, encoding, decoding, response, feedback and noise.
* Sender & Receiver
Facebook’s users can send message; “poke” each other and upload and view albums with each other. Facebook provide a platform where people can sender message and their friend can receive message.
Facebook also offers targeted advertising opportunities for company. The company can placed specific information such as new products in their profiles. Customer can easily take these information.
* Message & Media
Facebook provides a platform for fulfils people’s desire to communicate and interact with each other. The message is communicated to meet the needs of the receiver or audience.
As for media, Facebook is a good channel for company to introduce new products, launch videos and promotions, upload images. The message is delivered from the manufacturer to the consumer by Facebook.
* Encoding & Decoding
Encoding and decoding are very essential process in international market. Encoding means the recipient would translate the same message as expected by the sender. Decoding means the recipient comprehends the message given by the sender. Facebook provide a channel which cover the language problem, using the same communication in different market. For example, the head of Adidas’s digital marketing group explained, “Wherever our fans are, we are going to use Facebook to speak to them”.
* Response & Feedback
Feedback plays an important role in communication process because it tells how the message has been interpreted. Facebook provide a channel for company to listen to feedback of product.
