Resolutions to Issues at Kudler Fine Foods

Kathy Kudler established her own gourmet foods store, Kudler Fine Foods, in 1998 in La Jolla, California. Success of the La Jolla location was enough to open a second store in Del Mar, California, located to the north of the original location and followed this successful location with the launch of a third location in Encinitas, California. The purpose of this paper is to describe three issues that unless resolved could result into a problem that will not only affect Kathy Kudler but also the entire organization. Issues that will be discussed are Kathy Kudler’s over-involved roles within the organization, the current process of securing credit for the day-to-day operations and particular times of the year, and the issue involving the state of California’s economy. After elaboration of the issues, I will attempt to frame the problem and introduce a solution for the particular issues that management could act upon before the situations elevate to problems that could hamper the ability of the business from reaching both short-term and long-term expectations.

The Issue Concerning Kathy’s Roles with Kudler Fine Foods

Although the stores have been successful, Kathy has become accustomed to running all the aspects of the business herself. From the origination of the business, Kathy has established herself as the main management person in the organization. Kathy is responsible for hiring and firing of staff, the sole bookkeeper, and makes all decision on inventory numbers. This situation with Kudler Fine Foods and Kathy’s involvement in some major aspects of the day-to-day operations of the organization is an issue that could result to a problem that could damage the organization’s stability.
