Graffiti

“Let it go” scribbled in all the colors of the rainbow on a wall was what made my eyes dance again when I was having a bad day. Graffiti are writings or drawings that are created when scribbled, doodled, or painted on any surface more often on walls. They are usually made to send a message to the people or done as a form of expression to some artists. Various artists use graffiti to send positive words to the working people who are stressed out or to the poor who are feeling hopeless, if not jokes to brighten the day to those who need it. It started ages ago when pharaohs and Romans used to carve symbols on the wall to capture their culture for future generations. Graffiti is often associated with freedom .Freedom is a piece that everyone needs to top off their lively puzzle, and Andy Warhol once said “Art is anything you can get away with” which pretty much screams “freedom”. So one cannot blame those of whom graffiti to free their souls every once in a while. Graffiti is considered as street art, and not all people appreciate it. This is where a tangle happens, people who don’t want it fight for it to end - completely. Although some believe that graffiti is vandalism, apparently art is not a crime but the tool that allows people to express and inspire allowing artists to be free even if just for a couple of hours.

Some people consider graffiti as vandalism because it alters public property, yet other believe that graffiti is art; and art is not a crime. Whereas, some individuals prefer the streets clean and empty, claiming that graffiti is destruction. The opponents are “playing” with the meaning of “destruction” though. Destruction is like killing something and I don’t believe that graffiti does that to any property. Moreover, public property belongs to everyone, graffiti artists included.
