One thing that we have come to a conclusion on is that the website we chose to evaluate may have been too good already. By this I mean it does not need much in our eyes to make it better for the consumer. It offers thousands of products of all aspects of life and can be sent all over the world. The Alibaba website resembles the Amazon site as far as what it offers, which is just about anything you want or could ever want or need. So with that being said that could be an issue in itself.
The question we have to ask is does the site offer too much? It can confusing to a consumer sometimes if there is too much to look at or shop for. The experience can get to overwhelming and the consumer give up because of the multitude of choices for similar products offered. This may sound strange after all why would a company not try to sell a product if they can? Think of it like this though, if you go to a Costco or Sam’s Club type store they offer millions of choices but what they do not do is overload you on multiple choices for a similar product. They do this so they sell more of the one they have so they do not have to stock so many choices for the consumer. In essence it actually makes the customer’s visit more pleasing and less stressful in the long run.
Getting to the layout of the site we come to images of the products available. There are so many products available and it seems there is a category for each of them. Can the images of these products be consolidated better? For instance if you choose men’s apparel an image for every article of clothing and accessory pops up. Is this really needed or can we make more of solid category where after you click the category then the options open up for the consumer?
Now let’s get into the actual aesthetics of the site. The layout of the site looks very good and does not need overhauling in general. But what we think is that something could always be done to make it...
