Learning Strategies is a foundation course for all the students in Franklin University. It creates a strong base of knowledge about especially about learning strategies, using library resources, APA format and Tuckman’s group development model in particular. This course enables the student to write a quality paper with proper citation in APA format which definitely enables the learners to be a better writer for future paper writings during both of their academic and professional life.
Part 1 – Working with your Team
According to Bruce Tuckman’s model of group development any successful group goes through five stages. These are forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourn for a successful team all participants are equally important.
From the very beginning of the project I tried to be sincere and attentive. Since I have better knowledge about computer literacy I handled that sector. I have prepared the power point presentation slides.
I think as a team member I played the role of Initiator, Information Seeker, Informer, Clarifier, Summarizer, Orienter and Facilitator from goal-oriented roles. For example as an initiator I proposed who will be the team leader, how we are going to prepare our presentation and I took the responsibility of preparing the power point presentation part as my other two team members have some lacking in this area.
Besides from interaction-oriented roles I worked as Gatekeeper, Consensus Taker, Encourager, Compromiser, Standard Setter and finally Process-Observer. As a standard setter I suggested the best possible idea to make our presentation a better one.
Part 2 – Reflection on the Course
Writing in APA style is the most noteworthy part of this course. This course gives a thorough idea about this complex style in an effortless manner, which I found really interesting .It will be very helpful for the students in the long run.
Franklin University’s writing guidelines intensely reinforce the need to have ability in APA style....
