The Elimination of Illegal Organ Trafficking

An issue of great importance in the world of organ sales is whether the organs are obtained legally or illegally. The main problem with organs purchased through the black market is that the recipient has no way of knowing if the organ is healthy or disease ridden. An unhealthy organ can cause myriad health problems, putting a life already in jeopardy into an even more precarious situation.

The issue of illegal organ sales is a very serious one. Therefore, the world of black market sales must be obliterated, and the way to do this is by making organ sales legal. This is not to say that the area of organ donations should be ceased; on the contrary, perhaps if sales were made legal, more individuals would become aware of the dire situation regarding lack of organs in relation to saving lives, and feel compelled to donate (or even sell), thus saving even more lives.

It cannot be deemed for certain whether making the sale of organs legal would completely shut down the black market network in the immediate future, as it would definitely be a time consuming process; but a process that must be commenced nevertheless. Putting the black market into nonexistence will be an incredibly massive undertaking; after all, there is black market trafficking in virtually every country in the world, not just in the United States.

With that understanding, it would be very important for the countries who wish to halt black market activities to work together to come up with a plan to do just that. One option to gain esprit de corps would be to enlist the help of individuals in the medical profession, such as doctors (preferably) and nurses. Unfortunately, some of these personnel might not so willingly render assistance, so another method might need to be employed.
