‘the boy in the striped pyjamas’ is a fantastic film about war. It is a unique film that looks at war through the eyes of an 8 year old boy Bruno. The audience is positioned to view war in a tragic way.
A few days later, Bruno befriends another youth, strangely dressed in striped pyjamas, named Shmuel who lives behind an electrified fence. Bruno will soon find out that he is not permitted to befriend his new friend as he is a Jew, and that the neighbours yard is actually a prison camp for Jews awaiting extermination.
Good acting is presented through this film. Asa and scanlon are both brilliant actors who show great acting. There acting in this film portrays innocence. Bruno’s father and his mother also show really good acting throughting this film.
The director mark Herman has made it horrific film. Society is unequal in this movie. Bruno is shown as an innocent boy who doesn't understand what is happening around him.
Bruno moves to the countryside with his family. Bruno becomes upset and unhappy with moving to the countryside so he decides to run away and explore. Wide shots and close ups are used to show emotion and his surrounding. Bruno runs into a fence with a boy sitting on the other side of it. Bruno and small become friends. The final act of the film is absolutely fantastic. It is the best act I've ever seen in my life. It is dark and grim and the audience is scared and on edge. There are camera tilts and high angles to show how many Jews there are. The last act transitions back and forth between Bruno and his mom and dad which cleverly adds intensity and is effective. Close up shots are used to show emotion. In the end there is complete silence and darkness which is very powerful and leaves a strong last impression with the audience....
