Somebody… | Wanted… | But… | So… |

President Abraham Lincoln | The nation to heal as quickly as possible from the Civil War and planned to reunify the nation quickly | He was assassinated in 1865 only days after Robert E. Lee’s surrender | Plans for Reconstructions were taken over by Vice President Andrew Johnson, who become president after Lincoln’s death |

President Andrew Johnson | Thought as Lincoln’s did. The sooner they reunited, the sooner they will heal | Radical Republicans overrode the veto law and continued with their plan | It was harder for the southern to reunite and making it impossible for the nation to start healing |

Radical Republicans | To punish the southern for destruction and loss of life before they join the union with Wade-Davis bill | President Lincoln did not sign the bill to make it an official law | Radical Republicans overrode the veto law and continued with their plan |

Southern Democrats | To join the union as soon as possible | Radical Reconstruction took control of Reconstruction and making it impossible for them to reunite | In 1688 southern said they would vote for Hayes if he took all the federal troops |

The main issue relating to Reconstruction that divided Republicans at the end of the Civil War was that President Abraham Lincoln wanted to reunite the Southern with the Northern as quick as possible so they can start healing but the Radical Republican thought they should be punished before they reunite to make sure they won’t return to pre-civil war again. If I was a member of the Congress at the time I would support the presidents Reconstruction because I believe if we all join to together as a whole nation we will be stronger. Fast forwarding into time to now, we will see that the North and the South has no conflicts at all.
