MAKING GENERALIZATIONS

As a human being, we unconsciously interpret what we have seen according to judgement. We tend to thump down an individual with negative and invalidated prejudice that causes said individual’s impression to plummet.

According to my research, making generalizations is stating an idea which is not entirely true but since the majority of the populace acts to it, they are therefore generalized and not specified.

From the word ‘Generalize’ it is to derive a thought from particulars. Just like algebra, it is a group of elements, which is also called or particularly knows as a set. It is a statement about the behaviour of a large group based on observable traits of the same or similar but smaller group. It is forming conclusions from a small amount of information or evidence. And it is a matter of concept pertaining to the mind in which you generalize people and thus, creating stereotypes and presumptions.

Thus, it is observed that Generalizations does not focus on specifics but rather on the general aspect of a certain group.

As I’ve mentioned above, generalizing often creates stereotypes and presumptions. And Stereotype is a synonym of Generalization.
