The Quandary at Pure Drug ethical dilemma
While analyzing the dilemma that Pure Drug is faced with I was able to come with two
recommendations, which both the internal and external stakeholders will benefit from. Pure
Drug is faced with an ethical dilemma that holds both its reputation and profits at stake. Pure
Drug will either have to make an informed decision or face the possibility of having to shut
down the company. After carefully analyzing the obligations to the internal and external
stakeholders, which are also based on the Buddhist theory, I came up with two
recommendations, which will be discussed further in this paper. My goal in this paper is to focus
on an ethical resolution and recommendation.
Global pharmaceutical company has a reputation for quality. It has earned this reputation
by being ethical and having excellent business practices. The sales free at an average annual
compound rate of 12% and profits have increased by 15%. In 2013 there was an economic
downturn, which projected losses to be at 8 million dollars. Due to the economic downturn
stocks have also dropped.
The internal stakeholders in this company are the employees overall and more
specifically, Ms. Kahlon and Grace Tong, the families of the employees, the future generations,
and also the company as a whole. All of these stakeholders have direct obligations to the
company. The external stakeholders are the Philippines government, consumers of the
vaccination, the employees delivering the vaccinations, and also the society.
