One of the main skills most employers want is someone who can solve an issue without stopping the operation. Critical thinkers can adapt and change with how conditions are. They are valuable people to have in any workforce. Being able to solve an issue and find new ways to solve a problem is invaluable.

Critical thinkers are very technical people. They need to have all the information and what is needed of them. It is like math problems you cant find a solution until you have all the variables. Problem solving is a universal skill that can be applied to any situation. These traits are valuable to any company and in every profession. The key is to be adaptable and be able to break down the situation and look at it from different angles and see what others missed.

In the engineering field some of the greatest technological feet’s happen. People have to develop these technologies and they all start out with an idea. The key after that is making that idea a reality. The other day I watched a movie called The Social Network, where a kid in college who was just messing around decided to make a website where people can talk to each other. The website went on to become the social network called Facebook and the young man who designed became the worlds youngest billionaire and one of the richest people in this world. How, because he was presented a problem and used critical thinking combined with his knowledge of programming to become one.

Having these skills in the setting of engineering in very lucrative. You will be able to solve issues that come up and find new and better ways to do things. In the last ten years alone computers that used to take up feet of space and run one program at a time and now we have smartphones that fit in out hand. Phone that started as the size of bricks are thinner than the average notebook and slide in your pocket.
