Do people who say globalisation only benefits the rich even understand it?

(Just read through, they could base their arguments on the paragraph below, and then we will reply them with the answers from no. 1)

a. It benefits the poor just as much. It benefits third world countries by creating demand for their labour, which gradually raises their wages and their living standards, and allows them to access imports from the first world (such as technology).

It benefits the poor in the first world by lowering the price. Wages are generally the majority of production costs, especially in labour intensive industries (which are the ones that get outsourced), and if the products were produced at Western minimum wage the prices would double or triple, if not more. The increased competition from third world production also forces increased efficiency, which means lower costs and lower prices.

The rich benefit a lot less from lower prices than the poor.

1.What is wrong with your theory? A LOT!

"It benefits the poor just as much." WRONG:

It exploits the poor in developing and wealthy countries. It keeps the developing countries forever in debt.

2."It benefits third world countries by creating demand for their labour..." WRONG

The demand for labor in third world countries is not to be "wealthy," it is TO STAY ALIVE! Because of the discontents of globalization, people in third world countries are living off of on dollar a day. 15% of the world's population is living off of $1 a day (that's a quick death). It is NOT creating a demand for labor! It is making families sell their children into labor, slavery, and prostitution.

Because of globalization (or neo-liberalism), the US consumes 25% of the world's resources (yet we are only 5% of th earth's population, interesting).

4."The rich benefit a lot less from lower prices than the poor." WRONG!!!!
