Communication Ethics

Abstract

Communication is the effective means of conveying one's views or ideas so that, the receiver exactly senses the information that the sender wants to convey. Effective Communication means grasping the exact version of context that the sender tries to explain. Ethics is the Study of Morals which is more or less important for any individual to maintain the dignity, respect and fame. Ethics is becoming an integral part in today's life and a code of ethics have been designed for each specific domain. Communicating by considering the ethics leads to a healthy environment and promotes good will among the people. In this Paper I would like to put forth my views on Ethics, Communication, Communication Ethics, the views of ancient Philosophers - Aristotle, Kant and Mill, Intuition, Tests for Evaluating Actions and Conclusion.

Introduction

Communication is the expression of an idea that may be verbal, visual or vocal that is read, perceived and heard by the other person. It is the most effective means of expressing our views and thoughts which is very important in our day-to-day activities. Ethics is a study of values which reflects the mindset, attitude and character of an individual. Communication Ethics is the means of exchanging views or information basing on certain morals and principles which are pre-defined that the person needs to consider while making any decision. Ethical Communication adds value to the Speaker's content and raises the quality of expressing one's views and makes it a very healthy communication. Aristotle a Greek Philosopher was the one who proposed the earliest means of mass communication and he is the one who believes in the concept of greater-good. Immanuel Kant a German Philosopher is an Opponent to Utilitarianism.
