Woodford State Park

Every year many families take a trip to the state park campgrounds. For us the campground we go to is Woodford State Park. I am from New York State but Vermont is one of my favorite places when it comes to adventures. Woodford is located in southern Bennington County directly east of the town of Bennington, and is a crease of the Green Mountains. Woodford is one of the best places to go for camping. It has an unforgettable scenery and activities such as hiking, fishing, and boating on a glistening reservoir.

I love going up to Woodford State park for camping. Woodford State park is a 398-acre park and has the highest elevation campground of any park in Vermont at 2,400 feet. This is makes it a very breezy campsite with the reservoir next to it and the elevation. It takes about 40 minutes to get there in my boyfriend’s silver Honda Civic. We pack everything up we need such as plates, silverware, dish soap, tent, sleeping bags, a grill to put over the fire, some extra clothes, and food; such as hot dogs, hamburger, pork chops, fruit cups, and chips. Zach asks me to make sure everything is all packed up. Everything is stacked so high he can’t even see out the back of his window. We head off for the 40-minute drive and I leave the window down to feel the breeze and my hair flies all around my face. The drive is mostly steep up a mountain. The traffic is crazy when we go up the mountain so I have a feeling it’s going to take longer this time. The traffic sometimes is like waiting for the Boomer Rang at Six Flags. But once we get over the mountain I am excited as my dog at the groomers. I am so excited for the relaxation feeling that nature brings to me. I just had finals so I am still holding in a lot of Anxiety. When I get to Woodford state park the first thing I notice is a wooden gate, saying “Woodford State Park”. When you drive in through the gate the office is to the right...
