Vaccines/Autism

Vaccines have caused an uproar with people because so many think that it causes autism. Although there has been many experiments done on this topic, I suppose no one knows for sure if vaccines really do cause autism. The experiments conducted have not shown a link between the vaccine and autism but people get sucked into the media and become obsessed with peoples opinions and decide that they are not going to vaccine their child because their Facebook friend said not too. It is important if you are going to make a big decision, such as not vaccinating yourself or your child, that you do the proper research instead of taking your Aunt Cindy’s word for it.

Many people see vaccines as a negative thing and are worried about it causing autism. The scientific method can and should be used when trying to connect the two. First off people making an observation that their child was vaccinated and then later they were diagnosed with autism is the first step and second step when it comes to using the scientific method. People made an observation, and formed a hypothesis which was that the vaccine caused their child to have autism. The third step in the scientific method is to devise a testable prediction and that can be done by taking a group of people with autism and separating them by who had received a vaccine and those who had not. They could use those groups to conduct an experiment and come up with conclusions as to whether or not the vaccine is really causing autism.

People are often misled by the things that they hear about on the news, or what they read about on Facebook. The problem is that so many people decide to base their opinions off of other peoples opinions rather than doing research for themselves and looking at reliable data. A way that people can prevent being misled is by researching and consulting their doctors instead of taking everyones opinions as their own.
