1) In what ways are TV manufacturers practicing the total value concept? What features are consumers coming to expect in a modern TV? TV manufacturers are practicing total value concept by offering multiple value options. With how technology is becoming more advanced, manufacturers have to use total value concept for consumers to use in multiple ways. Consumers look for a TV that can browse the web, save movies or shows, and use social media. An example would be the smart TVs. They can connect to Wi-Fi, watch shows on Netflix, connect to YouTube, and connect to social media outlets. Consumers are also looking for TVs with larger frames and smaller bodies. So, not only is technology important, but so is the image of the TV. Another thing manufacturers have to use is price. Consumers look for the highest quality for the lowest price.

2) Say you manage the electronics department at your local Best Buy. Would you tweak the TV settings so each TV displays an ideal picture or would you leave them as they are out of the box? How would your decision influence returns and customer satisfaction? If I were the manager at Best Buy, I would just take it out of the box. This way the customer would not have unrealistic expectations with an ideal picture. It would be “what you see is what you get.” I feel as if there would be a lower return rate because there would not be an ideal picture. In my opinion, if I bought a TV with an ideal picture and my screen did not resemble it, I would return it. On the other hand, if you had a TV with an ideal picture next to a TV just out of the box, it would be tempting to buy the TV with the ideal picture. However, back to my original point, I would not be satisfied if the TV did not resemble the ideal picture.

3) Apple has made a case for the “retina” display on the latest iPhone and iPad, saying the pixels are so small the human eye cannot detect them. This gets away from official statistics like 2048-by-1536 screen resolution. In what ways...
