Rigging M119A3 Howitzer and M1113 for Low-Velocity

Airdrop on a 32-foot-Foot Type V Platform

DESCRIPTION OF THE LOAD

2-1. The M119A3, 105-millimeter howitzer is rigged with a 1 ¼-ton High Mobility Multi-Purpose

Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) truck (models: M1097A2, M1113, M1152, and M1152A1) and an

accompanying load of ammunition on a 32-foot, type V airdrop platform with five G-11 cargo parachutes.

The accompanying load is 30 boxes of 105-mm ammunition and 7 boxes of fuze weighing 3,713 pounds.

The howitzer is rigged for low-velocity airdrop from a C130 or C-17 aircraft.

PREPARING PLATFORM

2-2. Prepare a 32-foot, type V platform as shown in Figure 2-2.

Notes. 1. The nose bumper may or may not be installed.

2. Measurements given in this chapter are from the front edge of the platform, NOT from the

front edge of the nose bumper.

Step:

1. Inspect, or assemble and inspect, a 32-foot, type V airdrop platform as outlined in TM 101670-268-20&P/TO 13C7-52-22.

2. Install a suspension bracket assembly on each platform side rail using holes 6, 7, and 8.

3. Install a suspension bracket assembly on each platform side rail using holes 26, 27, and 28.

4. Install a tandem assembly to the front of each platform side rail using holes 1, 2, and 3.

5. Install a suspension bracket assembly on each platform side rail using holes 37, 38, and 59.

6. Install a suspension bracket assembly on each platform side rail using holes 57, 58, and 28.
