BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES
Khumpete Foundation was formed by Banu Khumalo and is a registered NPO.
We currently are focused on alleviating poverty in the Jackson Park community in
Eikenhoff, South of Johannesburg. The purpose of Khumpete is to focus on the
community center upliftment, education and service delivery.
Our goals include the following:

To restore an existing non-operational community center to be fully functional in
order to provide services to the community;

Enablement Services - To ensure that the community get assistance in obtaining
identity documents;

Health care - budget to re-open an existing but non-operational clinic;

Hunger Relief Program - the program feeds 120 plates per day over 6 days,
budget is required to increase these numbers;

Events for children and pensioners;
-
A community leadership development program - This will get the youth involved
in leading change within the community

MY ROLE
Along with being appointed the board secretary of Khumpete Foundation, I role also
included events co-ordination, organizing sponsors and of course secretarial work at
board level. The board meets once every two months. This then allows us to focus on
the real ground objectives of Khumpete.
Because we are a small organization, there is always something for one to do and my
duties were not just limited to the above.
