Lesson 1: Introduction to Workplace Reports (1)
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this lesson, you should be able to:
recognise the general characteristics of different types of workplace reports and
their purposes;
identify the key components of a report and their functions;
use appropriate reading skills for different reading purposes;
write effective report titles and headings; and
identify signposting words and phrases commonly used in reports.
Report writing is necessary in a wide range of jobs. The ability to write
effective reports is essential as it allows you to raise important issues
at the workplace, present possible solutions and persuade the readers
to accept your ideas. Management decisions in many organisations are
based on information submitted in the form of reports.
