Introduction:

Michael Dell started a company called PC's Limited in 1984 by investing one thousand dollars with a vision to build desktops for the consumer market. He started his company in college in a dorm room where he built and sold computers to other college students (Michael Dell Biography). He became interested in the mechanics at the age of 15 when he received his first apple desktop and started taking it apart. He image was the idea that he could build the desktop and sell it straight to the customer without a need of a store. (Michael Dell Biography) His idea became a reality when his first year as a company he made 6 million dollars in sales. He soon incorporated PCs Limited to a name to Dell Computer Corporation. Michael Dell becomes the youngest Fortune 500 company when he was at the age of 27 in the year 1992. In 2007, Dell, Inc had a huge problem that forced Michael Dell to come back as the CEO and he had to take them out of a slump in all aspects including quality, enhancements, and customer service. After only repairing a part of the company he decided to completely take the company private to rebrand the company as a whole in 2013. (Kelleher, Kevin)

Problem:

The future of Dell, Inc has caused the company to go through complete makeovers of their brand, which has caused an effect on their sales in a negative way. After doing some more research I was reading numbers of their sales and Dell realized that he needs to address some key components regarding their current sales. (Kelleher, Kevin) There was a drop in sales of laptops in 2013, making laptops fall thirteen percent and he noticed a spike in sales for servers that increased by twelve percent. (Kelleher, Kevin) He knew he needed to address how he can increase his laptop sales but still maintain a competitive edge in the server market.
