Communication has come a long way since the beginning of global communications. Even internal communications with early businesses had the extent of hand written letters that were walked to the recipient. Present day technology has provided the elaborate array of electronic communications. The introduction of the Internet produced an increase in the use of emails. The increase in the volume of emails has affected the business community over the years and carries the trend of a continuous growth. Companies are leaning toward the use of the Internet to do global business and emails for internal communications. With the increase in use of the Internet and emails within a company comes an increase in regulation and monitoring.

My Workplace

My company is an automotive dealership that utilizes the Internet and emails to their fullest potential. Each tool provides my company with the greatest benefit in the form of communication. There are over 300 employees employed at my job and emails are the main form of communication between departments. Mercedes-Benz Newport Beach is the name of my company and it is part of the franchise organization Mercedes-Benz USA, which is a subsidiary of the Germany Company Mercedes-Benz. The My job title is that of an Automotive Technician and one of the responsibilities is to communicate with representatives in both Germany and the MBUSA Corporation. Most of the communication is accessed through the corporation website while the rest is done by email via Microsoft Outlook. Since there are large amounts of emails are sent daily and each employee is allowed Internet access the company have set forth strict regulations on the use of both.
