* Downstream = manufacturing, distribution and marketing activities for oil products and chemicals

Decentralised business (especially for downstream) ww with companies in over 100 countries each of which operated with a high degree of independance.
Upstream is far more centralised in the Gaghe with much of the technical and financial direction.
