Organizational Trends Discussion
High Performance Workplaces and Organizations is the new direction in the Global Business environment. The belief is that these organizations are more people oriented which will in turn promote a successful business. This is unlike traditional organizations in terms of operational effectiveness, workplace stress, and organizational dynamics. Emerging trends in these organizations promote high performance and a less stressful environment.
Characteristics
A High Performance Workplace is defined as an organization that concentrates on bringing out the best in people and producing acceptable results. One of the characteristics of a High Performance Organization (HPO) is that people are the assets and not a liability. These organizations usually respect and encourage diversity. In addition, a HPO believes in nurturing an environment where team members can come together and contribute, adding value to the company. The HPO environment flourishes on learning and advancement (Goessl, 2011). Studies show that employees who have ongoing training show better performance than others who are micro-managed and not given direction. Additionally, High Performance Workplaces and Organizations are goal driven through a vision and values.
Differences
Some may assume that the grass may be greener in high performance work places opposite traditional organizations in terms of operational effectiveness, workplace stress, and organizational dynamics. The truth of the matter is that high performance workplaces are all very different from each other. HPO's differ from traditional workplaces primarily because of the entrepreneurial spirit and shared vision that is prevalent among the entire team.
