Many will argue the question “what are the circumstances under which it is or is not
legitimate to use military force against another group or country?” The answer to this question
will vary depending on the individuals’ point of view about war. Some people may argue that
there should be no legitimate situation in where the utilization of military force is used towards
another group or country. On the other hand, there will be individuals are in agreement that are
valid reasons to use military force against other groups and/or country. Personally, being an
active member of the United States Air Force I agree that depending on the circumstances use of
the force by the military is acceptable.
There is a common perception, based on the events that have occurred within the last 5
years, that the use of military force is the only preventable method against terrorism. Some of
these methods include utilizing controversial weapons to conduct military operations, such as
drones, nuclear weapons, chemical and biological weapons, carpet bombs, etc. Unfortunately,
the truth can not be denied about these controversial weapons that posses the ability to cause
inevitable damage to the environment. Additionally, these weapons have the capacity of mass
destruction to destroy a civilization or cities. Due to the tremendous affects these controversial
weapons create, they are often the center of attention relating to the strenuous moral problems
when employed.
The use of drones is a prime example of concerning moral dilemmas. The government
characterizes drones as “unmanned aerial vehicles.” Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary
defines drones as “an unmanned aircraft or ship guided by remote control or onboard computers”
(2016). These remotely controlled aircraft are controlled by operators thousands of miles away
