Title: Analysis of Energy Sources
• Purpose
The purpose of this report to determine which electricity generation, coal power plants or nuclear power plants, will be better for human sustainability. Not only for human sustainability, but also for the environment as a whole.
• Introduction
Every home and business uses electricity. It is used from sun up to sun down whether it is lights, televisions, appliances, office equipment, office equipment, computers and the list goes on. It is also becoming a common thing to see electrically charged vehicles. With this report, I will attempt to determine whether it will be better to use coal or nuclear power plants to continue to generate electricity.
• Hypothesis/Predicted Outcome
Based on the table and the research gained, I believe that nuclear power plants would be a better choice for a power source for human sustainability. It was shown that it does not create as much pollution as coal power plants and although it is radioactive material being used, coal has a higher concentration of it already in it.
• Methods
There were 2 sources of energy present in the table; coal and nuclear. Within those sources it is further broken down into a timeline over four quarters for a year for each source. Other categories that were analyzed were fuel needed, CO2 emissions, sulfur dioxide and other emissions, radioactivity, solid waste, and accidents. It was noted that coal plants release100 times more radiation than nuclear power plants because of the natural ingredients already in the coal (Wright, 2008).
• Results/Outcome
