The Treadway Tire Company: Job Dissatisfaction and High Turnover at the Lima Tire Plant

Unions in the U.S are declining partly because the union has not lived up to their promises they made to the people. Another reason is because unions have refused to be flexible to allow organization to adapt and grow to the changes that are happening in their markets or industry. “The traditional model of American labor unions, which guard employee rights by attempting to maintain the status quo, no longer benefits employers or employees” (Mello, 2015, p. 541). Organizations have worked on making their work environment healthy and offer their employees much of what they want already. They give them benefits, vacation time, incentives, bonuses, an open door policy, and treat them how they want to be treated.

They use surveys to see how their employees feel about their environment and by doing this it allows them to know where they stand, what they’re doing right, and anything they may be doing wrong. It’s critical for an organization to meet their goals and mission in order to succeed. If they don’t reach their goals then it could lead to them having an unsuccessful year or couple of years in which they start looking into downsizing. In order for an organization to succeed they have to know where they are trying to go with the company. They need a plan to get there because without one they will fail, their workers will not know where the company is trying to go or their mission, and morale will go down because if your workers don’t know your vision then they can’t be a part of your success.

The Treadway Tire Company was having problems with high turnover rates at one particular plant. The Lima Tire plant had the most turnover throughout the organization and mainly with their line foreman. They had a new human resource director who came in and looked over the issues...
