Project Justification: This project is to develop an intranet application where employees can improve their health by registering for company-sponsored recreation and wellness programs. This project will enable the company to reduce its health care premium costs and increase employee health while saving about $30/employee/yr (approximately $600,000/yr) over the next four years. The budget for the project is $200,000. |

Product Characteristics and Requirements: 1. -------------------------------------------------

Allow employees to register for company-sponsored recreational programs, such as soccer, softball, bowling, jogging, walking, and other sports. 2. -------------------------------------------------

Allow employees to register for company-sponsored classes and programs to help them manage their weight, reduce stress, stop smoking, and manage other health-related issues. 3. -------------------------------------------------

Track data on employee involvement in these recreational and health management programs. 4. -------------------------------------------------

Offer incentives for people to join the programs and do well in them (i.e incentives for achieving weight goals, winning sports team competitions, etc). 5. The intranet site must be secure from unauthorized access. 6. The intranet site must include a search feature for users to search by topic, keywords, etc. 7. The intranet site must be accessible using a standard Internet browser. |
