Nursing study Skills

Each different school has different ways to Study skills for the nursing profession is a lot different than how I have studied before. I will compare and contrast my study habits, to a nursing student’s habits, and my habits to an online nursing student’s habits.

In high school I studied with just reading the book again and making note cards for the vocabulary, and I was able to procrastinate a lot. Also I was extremely disorganized and would lost papers everywhere.

When doing research on the topic, I noticed that nursing students have to be organized by sticking to a plan (Study Tips, 2015) by using a planner to keep paper and projects deadlines and tests in. Also comparing notes with other students was another trick I found, by comparing notes, a student is able to see if someone miss’s information. Another study tip I found was to make an outline highlighting all the important details in each chapter, which can save time form reading the whole chapter again. These tips are a lot more organized than how I study, and would help with my habit of procrastination. Also creating a study group would help see what information I missed during the session in class.

Next I compared my study skills to a nursing student. When I talked to this student she told me that she would makes notes of important topic that would be on the test. Which helped her know what to study instead of reading and trying to learn everything. Also she would use a white board and draw out certain topics by creating charts to help organize her ideas, also the white board helped her with mathematic problems that she encountered in class.
