1. In the short story, “the vampire” allow himself to be interviewed so that he can tell a real life story of his own and can debunk most of the widely believed myth about the vampires, such as they hate light, they are vampire by birth, etc.

2. In the short story, the vampire (Louis) gets depressed and wants to die after his pious brother dies while in the film Louis (Brad Pitt) is depressed because of the death of his wife and infant child. Another point of contrast is that in the short story, after Claudia is killed, Louis joins Armand and travels around Eastern Europe together for many years where as in the film Louis cannot forgive Armand for his part in Claudia's death and he leaves Paris and roams around alone for many years.

3. Lestat have chosen Louis for vampirism because he was was under extreme depression, drunked and begging to be killed in the streets. Lestat was materialistic in his relationship. He uses Louis’ breaking point to turn him into a vampire and become Lestat’s companion. The fact that Louis is stinking rich with a house in which to take in Lestat’s dying father, a human, is an added bonus. Lestat is a gold-digger and had an eye upon the workers of the plantations owned by Louis, so that he can prey upon them. Also a Gay concept is also there which cannot be overlooked. Lestat is clearly attracted to Louis and his attack is an obvious seduction.

4. Claudia, the child vampire, was an abomination. Claudia might be the film’s most complicated character. Lestat converts her when she's only five years old, so anything about her pre-vampire life is not known. Since Louis and Lestat are basically her two dads, she inherits a few characteristics from both.

She is not sympathetic at all rather she is more cruel. She fed Lestat the dead blood of a young boy, which weakened him enough for her to slit his throat. She also has Louis's desire for knowledge coupled with Lestat's brutal cruelty. Her cruelty might even exceed Lestat's. Louis...
