Project Stakeholders

In order for manufacturing of the new room-sized plastic storage unit to be successful, then the objectives of the whole process have to be met in addition to meeting or even exceeding the expectations of the various stakeholders. To be clear stakeholders are individuals who are interested or care about the project (Eskerod, 2012). These are individuals who are involved actively in manufacturing the new product and will either lose or gain because of the project. In our case, since the manufacturing of the storage unit will be done in-house then most if not all of the stakeholders will be from Winsome Manufacturing Company. The stakeholders will be drawn from management level together with all the departments involved which include; sales and marketing, production, shipping, design and purchasing. One of the most important stakeholders is the project sponsor who is usually an executive in the company and holds the responsibility of assigning resources and even enforcing decisions that in regards to the project. Project sponsor should probable be the chief executive officer of the company and should own the project.

The project manager is also a significant stakeholder and will be responsible for coordination of all team members in the project together with the managers of the various departments. They have a complex job as they have to guide the project in its entire lifecycle and dealing with various stakeholders. The project manager can be termed as the boss of the project and should come from the production department. The reason for this is that it is the most important department in the company whose sub-functions are depended on by the other departments.
