Queen Victoria Market is an open air market located in the corner of Elizabeth and Victoria Streets, Melbourne. It is a historic site that has been in Melbourne for over 125 years. The QVM is best known for its variety of fresh produce which include fruits and vegetables, meats, chicken, seafood and delicatessen products. There are also cafes and other specialty/merchandise stalls located all around the market.

The layout of the market is set out in rows of sheds. They are each labeled shed A, shed B and so on. Shed A starts at the corner of Victoria and Peel Street end and works its way down to Shed L. When you move across Queen Street and get on the corner of Queen and Therry Street, move your way up and you will find the meat and fish markets, some fruit and vegetable stalls, organic stalls, delicatessens, and many cafes.

The operation times of the markets are: Tuesday: 6am - 2pm, Thursday: 6am - 2pm, Friday: 6am - 6pm (General merchandise closes at 4pm), Saturday: 6am - 3pm, Sunday: 9am - 4pm.

The market users were easy to point out as some of them were yelling out the specials they were selling and most of them had a bum bag around there waist. In the meat and fish area, the butchers were standing in the pathways yelling out specials.

The range and variety of vegetables are really extensive. There are 4 sheds full of fruits and vegetables ranging from local produce from Victoria and Australia to Asian and exotic produce. There is a row only dedicated to organic fruits and vegetables as well. The deli section also has an extensive variety of produce ranging locally to delicatessens specializing in cuisines from a range of countries including France, Italy, Greece, Japan, Africa and Poland. There is also a range of produce available including a huge variety of dips, cured and preserved meat, local and imported cheeses.
