How Would I fit in at Kudler Fine Foods

The purpose of this paper is to determine how my personal values would or would not align with those values of Kudler Fine Foods. Well in order to do that, my own personal ethical perspective had to be determined. This was accomplished by taking the Williams Institute Ethics Awareness Inventory Assessment. According to the results, my values are consistent with obligation and least with equity. In judging whether a person’s actions are ethical, I look to the intent behind his/her actions, rather than focusing on the results. Ethical principles must be: (a) appropriate under any circumstances (universalizable), (b) respectful of human dignity; and (c) committed to promoting individual freedom and autonomy (University of Phoenix, 2006). After reviewing KFF’s Strategic Plan, several values were evident. The most evident values of Kudler Fine Foods are social responsibility, customer service and work ethic.

The impact of the decisions of KFF will be felt by the surrounding public, so it is crucial that the business demonstrate servant leadership. Kathy realizes that by opening a business in a community that there is an obligation to support that community. This is evident through her efforts to donate goods. When items no longer meet the standards of freshness acceptable in the stores, those still in “good” condition are donated to local food kitchens and homeless shelters. The stores use only the finest organic ingredients. When possible, the company purchases produce from local organic farmers. This puts dollars spent in her stores back into those communities. The commitment to not add any unnecessary preservatives to their products is paramount in a society where healthy eating is becoming more important. Although Kathy is unable compete with other retailers regarding wages, she allows her employees to take home some of their perishable items to share with their family.
