It can be very hard to choose a healthy drink when there are so many other tasty unhealthy options taunting your taste buds. When you are out it can also be difficult to choose a healthier beverage due to price differences. Making smart beverage choices is an essential key to healthy living. Water is a healthy drink but there are other healthy choices when choosing a drink and I will discuss a few of them.

Water is the most popular drink on Earth. Drinking plenty of water keeps you hydrated and helps balance of body fluids. Water is the best substitute if a person is trying to watch their weight. Water also helps your skin to look flawless, not staying hydrated can cause your skin to be wrinkled. Water helps maintain a normal bowel movement by preventing constipation.

Next on the list is green tea, it is made from camellia sinensis leaves. Green tea reduces many diseases such as cancer, heart disease, and osteoporosis. The natural antioxidants relax your blood vessel, which disturbs formation of blood clots (Schreibman, 2015). Green tea also helps to strengthen teeth because it contains fluoride (Schreibman, 2015). Green tea contains the amino acid L-theanine when combine with the small percentage of caffeine improves brain function (Gunnars, 2013). Green tea also lowers your risk of getting Type 2 diabetes by improving insulin sensitivity and reducing blood sugar levels (Gunnars, 2013). Green tea is considered to be one of the healthiest drinks in the world.

Next is orange juice or OJ, we love our orange juice. Orange juice is a great source of Vitamin C which helps to protect us from immune system deficiencies and cardiovascular disease. Orange juice is an antioxidant that helps prevent cataracts (Schreibman, 2015). Orange juice also contains folate, a folic acid, which protects against neural-tube defects in fetus (Schreibman, 2015)s. Orange juice is a great substitute for a soda if you are trying to watch your calorie intake.
