ExxonMobil

ExxonMobil has a history that started approximately 145 years ago. John D. Rockefeller and his partners formed a company named the Standard Oil Company of Ohio in 1870. In 1882, Rockefeller and his partners established the Standard Oil Trust that unionized roughly 40 companies. The Standard Oil Trust then formed the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey (Exxon) and New York (Mobil). In 1999, the merger between Exxon and Mobil took place. This formed ExxonMobil, which is the world’s largest energy corporation within its industry. ExxonMobil has a very distinct Mission and Vision statement it follows. The Mission statement is as follows: “ExxonMobil is committed to being the world’s premier petroleum and petrochemical company. To that end, we must continuously achieve superior financial and operating results while simultaneously adhering to high ethical standards.” The Vision statement is as follows: “To be at the leading edge of competition in every aspect of our business.” Along with the Mission and Vision statement, ExxonMobil follows principle guidelines for insuring lasting, effective relationships between its shareholders, customers, employers, and the community. For shareholders, ExxonMobil states, “We are committed to enhancing the long-term value of the investment dollars entrusted to us by our shareholders. By running the business profitably and responsibly, we expect our shareholders to be rewarded with superior returns. This commitment drives the management of our corporation.” For customers, ExxonMobil provides, “Success depends on our ability to consistently satisfy ever changing customer preferences. We commit to be innovative and responsive, while offering high quality products and services at competitive prices.” For employees, ExxonMobil states, “The exceptional quality of our workforce provides a valuable competitive edge.
