Texting and Driving Kills

Have you heard about people dying because of texting and driving? There are millions of people dying every year because of this problem. Some people are confident they can text and drive. Texting while driving should be illegal in every single state.
First of all, it can kill you. According to the organization Don’t Text and Drive, there are “11 teen deaths EVERY DAY.” This shows that teens need to stop texting and driving before they get killed doing it. Secondly, according to Don’t Text and Drive, “texting while driving is a growing trend, and a national epidemic, quickly becoming one of the country’s top killers.” People need to realize that texting and driving is one of the top killers before they are killed or kill others. Lastly, Michelle Healy, the author of Study: Teens Who Text and Drive Take Even More Risks, explains that “the greatest single risk to teenagers in this country is getting hurt or killed in a motor vehicle crash; that’s the most likely thing to result in their death.” Teenagers need to realize that texting and driving is the greatest risk that can lead to their death.
Secondly, texting and driving can cause an accident. Texting and driving is a distraction that causes multiple crashes. The organization Don’t Text and Drive states that texting and driving causes “nearly 25% of ALL car accidents.” Don’t Text and Drive reports that you are “about 6 times more likely to cause an accident than driving intoxicated.” Texting and driving causes accidents anytime and anywhere. Lastly, Amelia Robinson, the author of 5 Things You Should Know Before The Texting and Driving Ban Kicks In, claims that “it is illegal for drivers age 18 or older to use handheld electronic wireless communication to send, write, or read text messages while driving.” In my opinion, nobody should be able to use a phone for anything while driving.
