CHAPTER ONE

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Industrial Attachment was introduced to inspire the students with practical, technical skills, as a partial fulfillment award of Bachelor’s Degree and to introduce the students into a working environment. The training time allows the students to link the theoretical principles learned in the four years in purpose to reach the Bachelor’s Degree. It gives to the students the practical skills and the work environment philosophy, to use their skills and principles learned in class to serve the institutions and the society in general. Due to the above reasons, Maseno University has organized 12 weeks of training in any relevant institution according to students’ choice to provide every student an opportunity to apply the skills and knowledge achieved during the course of study and to acquire new skills in managing relationship and carrying out the jobs/tasks assigned. This is the reason why I came to Kisii county ICT department to be trained in order to get practical skills.

KISII COUNTY GOVERNMENT HISTORY

Kisii County Government is one of the 47 counties in Kenya courtesy of the new constitution of Kenya 2010 which created the new county system of governance. Kisii County is County number 45 according to the First Schedule. It shares common borders with Nyamira County to the North East, Narok County to the South and Homabay and Migori Counties to the West. The head of the county who is the governor, James Ongwae runs the county and some of the national services were devolved to the county level and ICT was one of them. The headquarters are situated in Kisii town, formerly municipal county buildings. It’s divided into three, the executive the treasury and the sub county offices.

1.2 ORGANIZATION ATTACHED

I was attached at the Kisii county government which has its headquarters situated in Kisii Town. Kisii county government is dedicated to ensuring its people get the best services at a closer level.
