Introduction

Technological infrastructure around the world is developing continuously and is becoming interconnected at a faster rate. Media devices such as smartphones and computers provide internet access to a high number of users worldwide. As a result, the media tools provide various opportunities depending on the consumption of media on demand. Contemporary, internet use has significantly revolutionalized how people socialize by breaking geographical and physical barriers so as to enable real-time communication. Particularly, the advancement in telecommunication has become influential to the business environment since new technologies continuously change the way business proceeds in the global community. The adoption of the new Internet use technologies by the global community determines the future look of businesses.

Internet use

The new technological trend has influenced the structure and orientation of businesses to a great extent. Concurrently, advances in telecommunication have significantly reduced the time required to carry out business operation and the related cost of operation. The drastic change from traditional to digital forms of communication consolidates the senders and receivers of different information around the world. Digital tools such as emails have replaced the traditional mail system due to its speed and cost-effectiveness. Due to its ability to keep large information volumes in virtual locations at a low cost, internet communication enhances delivery in most leisure and production sectors (Bennett, 2012).

In the recent years, internet use as a marketing platform has been dominant in many businesses around the world. In this case, the internet is a virtual market in which the demand-side and the supply-side can interact by using digital telecommunication devices.
