Life Review Assignment

Psychology 237 Winter Term

I chose to interview my mother. As I have mentioned earlier, we have had a difficult time getting along these past few years. Upon entering her house for the first time in over a year, it brought back so many memories. But, I was there to talk about her, and I found out a lot about her, so I won’t talk directly about myself in this paper. I could tell she was nervous about the interview; I may have made her feel on-the-spot, because it was a short notice favor. And for that, I do sincerely apologize. I remember when I was 5 or 6, living up Indian Creek Road, between John Day and Prairie City, OR. It was the very last house, and it had a creek that literally ran under the kitchen. Our sink faucet drained into this creek. We would catch crawdads in the creek, feed baby calf’s bottles, milk cows, hike hills, and look for pretty rocks. What was something you could change about your childhood?

The fact that my father was a really mean alcoholic.

What positive/negative major events have changed your life?

Positive things are being a mother and grandmother. Negative things are getting divorced from my first husband because he was controlling and mean, which was not good for our children.

What aspects of your family life have been the most/least satisfactory?

The most satisfactory was our week long adventure of camping and jet-skiing at Prineville Reservoir with the whole family every summer. The lease satisfactory is when I see my children having troubles in their life.

How would you like to see your family life in the future, and what can you do to make that happen?

I would like to have us get together more often. I could help that by making plans...
