Cottrill Inc. is one of the largest corn refining operations in North America. They operate six wet-milling plants, four in the United States and two in Canada & been operating for over 20 years & they have more than 100 employees. Cottrill primarily competed in the business-to-business segment. Judy Stevens is their purchasing supervisor. Majority of Cottrill's product were manufactured through a continuous flow process. As of the moment, Cottrill is working with Tallant which is a large international wireless company. They didn't provide Cottrill a designated service representative & asked them to replace a pager but it took them more than a month to replace it. Delayed response will affect the operations of the plant. On the other hand, Saxton, a large wireless services company contacted Judy to present a proposal about the advantages if Cottrill will switch to Saxton. Saxton is offering Cottrill a simpler fee structure & a lower overall cost compared to Tallant.

The key success factor for Cottrill is low cost. Maximizing output and minimizing downtime are, therefore, important. In our opinion, we would advice the company to switch to Saxton since they are already having problems with Tallant's customer service. Since Tallant's performance/customer service from the past few months have been very poor, switching have benefits such as; Since they are trying to reduce their working capital, It could save time & money; Time is money in all aspects of business & It can be fixed right away when having minor issues problems through e-mail, phone or through Judy if any services issues arose, they offered a simpler fee structure and also a lower overall cost than Tallant. Despite making this decision would mean changing all the pagers, the aftermath of changing them would be worth all the cost that it will bring. We believe that they will be...
