Ethical Reasoning Mini Case – Crowd Funding

Ethics is a big important section in business and in our daily life. In this paper, I will be talking about a mini case Crowd Funding: A Case Study at the Intersection of Social Media and Business Ethic by Barry Padgett and Clyde Rolston (Barry & Clyde) and how crowd funding users are not being ethical with the fund received. It will be based on the three perspectives: utilitarianism, rights, and justice by Judith White and Susan Taft (Judith & Susan) in their article Frameworks for Teaching and Learning Business Ethics within the Global Context: Background of Ethical Theories.

Core Ethical Beliefs

My main core ethical beliefs are fair and morally right. I believe everyone should have a fair playing field. Every person on Earth should be able to have equal access and equal chances to pursue and obtain things in life. It would not be ethical to cheat and use advantages of which the other involved party/parties do not know. You should be able to feel like it is the right thing to do without having a moral issue with your actions. I was a little thief when I was little. I was stealing candies and money without realizing that I would hurt the other person and cause them harm. I was taught not to do those things by getting beat up and locked up, so once I grew up and got to school, I was able to be a better person with better ethical standards. And even now, I am taking business ethics for my accounting degree. In business ethics class, I was able to learn more and more how to behave with good morals and with good ethical behaviors. In most of my business related classes, we would also had a chapter or small section about ethics.
