School Uniforms

There have been many cases with a student wearing his or her school

uniform during controversial incident such as like the Fraternity Hazing of the student of CSB and UP, or the “Amalayer” incident in the LRT where a fight broke out between a security and a student. The school uniforms for identification of the student and represents and shows where the student studies and goes to school, most likely high school students will have to wear such school uniforms.

“For what are uniforms? Does it affect the students? Is it necessary?” those are questions that are often asked by students and by parents. Uniforms are clothes that are worn in a specific social group or organization. They are there to represent an organization and to show that the person is part of it. An example for a type of uniform are the school uniforms which students dislike because of its ugly design. The school uniform is there to make every student feel equal compared to wearing civilian clothes which can fall to targets of “fashion” bully’s who are judging other students according to their fashion and clothes. It shows the pride of the student for their school by wearing their uniform. For many parents school uniforms are not a problem for them because it is cheaper and they don’t need to buy clothes for everyday use. However, students think it’s an issue for them, because they think it’s childish or unfair because they can’t wear what they want which they think is useless and is waste of money because they will only wear those school uniforms until they graduate or when the uniform is too small for them. (Haynes, 2003)

For me, the uniform code is a good practice for students because it gives them a sense of conversation, it helps them express themselves in a good way and it will help them academically to focus better on their studies and that will show them that everyone in the organization is being treated equally.
